I am an Orton-Gillingham certified speech-language pathologist who is passionate about helping learners build strong foundations in reading, spelling and language.
My path into literacy did not happen all at once. It grew naturally through more than 10 years of volunteering with children in community settings. From the Children's Aid Society and Big Brothers Big Sisters to the North End Library, I was always drawn to connecting with children through books, stories, language and plenty of laughter. Being involved in my community remains important to me, and I continue to volunteer each week as a literacy tutor.
As I entered the field of speech-language pathology, I found myself increasingly drawn to the connection between speech, language and literacy. When I completed my Orton-Gillingham certification, it felt like the missing piece. It brought together so many of my interests that shaped my path and confirmed my passion for helping learners develop confidence through literacy and language.
I love working with children, teens and young adults. I love literacy and language, and I love helping learners rediscover their confidence. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child experience success, discover their strengths, and find their shine again.
I love watching children begin to take pride in their accomplishments, learn to trust themselves, take risks, and leave sessions with an extra pep in their step. Some of my favourite moments are hearing from parents that this confidence is beginning to shine through in other areas of their child's life.
I feel incredibly grateful that my work aligns so closely with my personal passions.
